The Moon is a Reflecting Pool

Mostly, I think, finished:

I'm not completely happy, but it was a useful test of form and color. It's a little hard to tell in the photo how many layers of paint and glaze have been applied, some with a pearl and/or golden tint, some with various blues & greens, but the picture below is how it looked when I'd applied only the first layer of paint, back on February 28th:

WIP: session 2

Better balanced physically and visually, slightly sanded. Needs more sanding.

WIP: "The Moon is a Reflecting Pool"

WIP => Work In Progress, formed and baked, next steps: sanding and painting
This is a small piece (about six inches wide) that's somewhat for practicing painting techniques for the mask in the other work, but also something that wanted to be made on its own. I also need to add some extra clay to the back of the left side, because it hangs too far down on the right so the droplet isn't quite straight.

Why can't what's in my head just exist?

I have an idea for an art piece. I have all the skills required for this one, but it's a complicated, 3-dimensional, multimedia sort of piece and it's taking a long time to pull together.

So, still a ways to go. But it (might be / could be / will be) awesome.
